    Not cool

I recently bumped into an old friend two weeks ago at Midvalley. He was with his wife, strolling around, while my brother and I just finished our bi-weekly groceries shopping.

We used to be so close. We met during matriculation, were instant friends, and even though after matriculation we went to do different courses, we still kept in touch and meet whenever we could. After Uni, we worked at different places, but still we kept in touch, even through all those ‘grown-up’ problems that we had.

Then he found a girlfriend. The random calls and jokes stopped. Ok, I totally understand. The guy’s in love, of course he’s not going to waste his precious credit on me. Then he got married, which btw, he just sms-ed me the invite. I couldn’t go because it was too short notice (I was in KL at that time, and the wedding was to be in Miri, Sarawak – I couldn’t get a plane ticket). So, ok, he’s married now, marriage is bliss, they’re happy, yada yada yada. But I still thought of us as friends, even when we haven’t spoken to each other in months (years, prolly).

But when I bumped into him and his wife at MidV, it was, like, he couldn’t get away fast enough from me. Like I was some sort of a leper. And I was totally nice! I tried to include his wife too while I was making small talk, but both of them were just… like, Science-when-will-this-witch-stop-talking-I-need-to-get-away. Eventually I ran out of ideas and was tired from faking enthusiasm. Science, I’m so pissed. What did I do?? I couldn’t think of a single thing that I did that might offend either of them.

Is there an unwritten rule that once you get married you have to sever your friendship? Does it also say that you must be rude to them?

And why did I try so hard to make small talk when they were obviously not interested?? Why?!

Y’know what? Be that way. It’s not cool, since we were friends and stuff, but fine. Be that way.

    Mikail... stoned.

WELL. Took me awhile to update, didn't I?

Anyway, here it is... a "stoned" looking Mikail:

    L1000846

Heheheheheheheheh! He's so gonna hate me for this....

According to my brother, Mikail is now 'growing' into his features... and apparently he's going to look like his dad, instead of the mum (my sis-in-law). He's now in Baling, with his mum, recuperating under the watchful eye of his grandma (my sis-in-law's mum), so I haven't seen him in awhile. He'll only be back in KL probably end of Nov... that's a month away. I hardly know the little guy and I'm already missing him. Awwww. OK I'll stop.

In other unrelated news, I'm saving up for the Year-End Sale, or what they're calling it now, the Malaysia Savings Sale (29th Nov - 4th Jan). Frankly, I should be saving up for my Bandung trip next year in Jan with my friends because I'll be shopping then too, but... January is a long way ahead! I don't think I can stand not buying anything during the sale. Gads! I shouldn't be allowed to have money coz I piss it all away on unimportant stuff!

And I'm going to apply for a credit card too, coz I want to get a new laptop but I can only afford to pay for it monthly via credit card. Science, I hope I have the will power to resist charging everything on the card... and that was the only reason why I don't have a credit card in the first place, coz I don't trust myself with it. Why am I cursed with this overwhelming need to spend like a millionaire eventhough I'm earning like a pauper?!

    Woe, indeed.

    Syed Mikail

I’m really happy to announce that my brother and his wife delivered a healthy baby boy on 10/10/08. This… is Syed Mikail.

    10102008

Mikail (Mikaa’eel) is the name of one of the archangels in Islam. It is, I think, the equivalent to the Archangel Michael. We haven’t decided on his nickname yet, whether we want to leave it as is, or Mika (like Micah in Heroes), or Mika (of Grace Kelly fame), or Mike (HAH. Like we’re english!). So far, we’ve only called him “baby”. He looks a lot like his mum, but the nose… is definitely my brother’s nose. I hope he’ll be a big eater, so that he’ll grow into an adorable chubby baby, and there’s more of him that I can squeeze.

The baby only sleeps, eat, cry and poop at the moment, so… not much  fun to be had with this one yet. I can’t wait until he’s a bit bigger so that we can plot to take over the world, or something. Actually, I have another pic of Mikail looking kinda “stoned” in the PC at home… hehehehe. I’ll upload it later!

    Welcome Mikail! Aunty loves you!

    Post-Raya: Commence diet tomorrow

Due to extreme pig-ness during Raya, I will re-start my 'healthy diet' plan tomorrow. I thought of starting today, but... the leftover raya cookies were too big of a temptation today. Die die also I must start tomorrow. Die. Die.

My digestive system has still yet to 'forgive' me for the sudden influx of santan-based food that I put it through during Raya. I think I need to detox. Day 1 of Raya was just splendid.

Day 2, however... blerghh. Horrendous experience during my trip to Kelantan to attend cousin's wedding. It was a 10-hour trip from KL to Kelantan because of the number of cars on the road, apparently going to the same destination. It took us 2 hours to reach Kota Bharu from Pasir Puteh, and it was only a 30km stretch of road. There was traffic in the town as well, especially if there was a bridge involved. The road went from 3-lane to a 1-lane bridge, which was what caused the massive bottleneck. It was really a test of patience and endurance. HOWEVER, the worst was yet to come, because it took us 14-hours from Kelantan to KL, all because of the Raya traffic. I almost kissed the ground when we finally reached Putrajaya (my mum's house). Also, now I know I'm old because I got joint pains and all from sitting too long in the car.

*sigh* I need a break from my break.
